Service Users are best suited to Tier 3 Adult Specialist Non-Residential treatments when they are able to attend appointments, have insight into the nature of their substance use/gambling and what they want from treatment, are motivated to make changes and have some active supports. Service Users who are not ready for Tier 3 Treatment interventions will be referred to Local Tier 2 Services so they can progress care plans that meet their needs.
Waiting List
Is there a waiting list for this service? If so how does it operate?
On receipt of self or professional referral, the Team will offer an initial Assessment appointment at Arbour House or in the Community. Approximately 20 assessment appointments are offered weekly across Cork City. [We operate a cancellation list whereby we may offer an earlier appointment to someone waiting, if they can attend at short notice].
For treatments requiring Opiate Substitution, following Initial Assessment and completion of Induction Program our Intensive Stabilisation Program on Methadone will usually commence within 4 weeks of Assessment.
What is the average waiting time?
The average waiting time for Inital Assessment is 2 weeks.
Can service users avail of any other services provided by this organisation while they are on the waiting list?
Service users seeking Opiate Substitution fulfill criteria by attending an Induction Program which involves 3 half hour psycho-educational sessions including urinalysis before starting on methadone. This Program informs Service Users about the science of Methadone, the different purposes/programs for which it can be prescribed, (Incentive & Contingency Management, Stabilisation, Therapeutic Maintenance & Detoxification) and how to stay safe while on methadone.
